Some Common Golf Faults & Cures

Grip
Look at the top players in the world and without exception you will notice these players have a near perfect grip. A fault in the grip will cause problems in the takeaway which will then have to be compensated for with a bad movement later in the swing. When you initially change your grip it will feel uncomfortable and often make things worse for the first practice session. You have to be brave and stick with it. You will not reach your true potential with a bad grip
Set-Up
In my experience a poor setup is at the root of the majority of golf swing problems. Bad alignment is very common. If the lines across the body aim too far right or left of the target you are already in trouble.
A golfer that aims his feet, hips, and shoulders left of their target is described as being "open". The result is to swing the golf club along the lines of the body i.e. out-in. The resulting shot will be a slice or a pull dependant on the clubface at impact. If the golfer's set up is "closed" i.e. aiming the lines across the body too far right, the opposite will happen and a hook or push will be the result.
Look again at the top players and notice how they set up perfectly with the lines across their body running parallel to the target. Next time you go to the range pick a target, concentrate on your set up, place your club across the line of your feet, step back and see where you are aiming.
Difficulty Hitting Fairway Woods
Many clients complain they struggle to hit their fairway woods or even rescue clubs. The shots are often very low or even topped! The common denominator is very simple.  The ball position in the stance gets too far back towards the middle. This encourages a descending blow, there is a loss of loft hence the low trajectory or the possibility of hitting the top of the ball. Fortunately, the cure is simple.  Move the ball position forward in the stance almost opposite the left heel. This will encourage you to hit the ball slightly on the upswing dramatically increasing the height of your shots.
Fluffing Chip Shots
This is a very common problem especially in higher handicap players. Improving the short game is the easiest way to reduce your score yet I feel this is the most under practiced area of golf and the most under coached. Grip down the club with your chosen club, move the ball back in the stance, push your hands slightly forward and allow 60% of your weight to move onto your left foot. Here comes the simple bit - swing the club like a putter keep the club low on the backswing try not to break the wrists and accelerate through the shot. This method will give you a great strike and the ability to judge distance.

Thanks for reading my tips - but this is of course just a start.....
